Corporate Counsel, APAC
Location: Sydney, Australia

We have an excellent opportunity to join us as a Corporate Counsel, APAC!
This Corporate Counsel role will be Sydney-based, an Australian jurisdiction qualified lawyer/solicitor (qualification in other APAC regions will be a definite plus), with rights to reside and work within Australia, and with a valid legal degree from a recognized university.
The ideal candidate will have either 4-6 years post qualification experience (PQE) in technology with a focus on cloud services, reseller and partner agreements, data privacy and ancillary commercial experience or a more experienced lawyer (10+ PQE) looking for a practice change.
To be successful within the organization, the Corporate Counsel will have a firm understanding of the Asia-Pacific market, practices and cultures, and must embrace the core values of the organization and quickly establish him/herself as a team player who is both flexible and intellectually nimble, with an enhanced commercial/business perspective, and be a self-starter who can immediately contribute in a challenging and fast-paced environment.
The primary responsibilities for this role include (but are not limited to).
Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of agreements with a primary focus on cloud services and technology partner agreements, reseller and partner agreements, software license and support agreements, RFP responses, statements of work, and professional services agreements;
Supporting Genesys sales growth in APAC and field incoming requests/ questions from business stakeholders related to deal work;
Localization of global templates specific to the APAC region;
Review and support non-standard requests using Genesys’ Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) system;
Knowledge of and engagement with data privacy and data security related issues;
Collaborate and provide commercial and general legal advice to the business, including providing advice to internal clients of company processes, contract status, and make recommendations based on company policies and standards;
Working with internal business partners on education and planning, and advising business leaders on significant legal matters impacting the business, e.g., privacy laws, local regulations, etc.; and
Ad hoc duties as required by management.
You’ve been there and done this…
The candidate must possess a law degree from an accredited law school and be a member in good standing with in the State or Territory where the candidate is qualified;
Proficient in commercial and contract law and have experience negotiating and drafting a variety of contracts including cloud, software licensing, partner distribution, and strategic transactions;
Minimum of 4 to 6 years legal experience in technology or an experienced lawyer 10+ PQE looking for a practice change required, and gained from a combination of private practice and in-house roles;
Customer-facing work experience and focus is a must;
Demonstrated attention to detail, time management skills, excellent communicator, organized and possess excellent drafting skills;
Experience working across cultures, including cross-border international contracts;
Ease in working with people up and down the organization hierarchy and establishing strong business relationships;
Demonstrated knowledge of, and ability to navigate, complex legal and regulatory compliance matters;
Must have positive, problem-solving, business focused attitude with good judgment prioritizing workload in fast paced environment, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and complete projects accurately, on schedule;
Must be a team player also able to self-start and work independently; Willingness to travel when required; and
Excellent judgment, confident and comfortable, with a strong work ethic.
