About the Equity, Multicultural and Inclusive Education directorate
The Equity, Multicultural and Inclusive Education (EMIE) directorate is focussed on ensuring support for the diverse student population in every classroom, aligning with our equity and inclusion goals outlined in Our Plan for NSW Public Education. The unit collaborates across the department and with stakeholders to ensure that the departments reforms and programs effectively support the diverse student population. The unit provides specific support for multicultural communities and English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) learners in NSW public schools and overseas multifaith initiatives across the department including Special Religious Education and Special Education in Ethics. The unit plays a key role in strengthening social cohesion and community harmony in NSW public schools.
About Multicultural Education
The Multicultural Education Unit promotes education for all students about cultural diversity, community harmony, anti-racism, religious intolerance and intercultural understanding. The team provides programs that meet the specific needs of students who are learning English as an additional language or dialect, including newly arrived students and students from refugee backgrounds. The team delivers services that facilitate communication and engagement with parents, carers and communities from culturally, linguistically and religiously diverse communities.
About the role
This is an exciting opportunity for a person who thrives in a dynamic environment and is passionate about correspondence. From managing official correspondence and supporting records systems, to liaising with senior officers and preparing professional documentation. Working collaboratively with the Director, across business unit and Office of Executive Director and Office of the Deputy Secretary. You’ll be the operational backbone that keeps our team running efficiently and effectively. Also required to monitor the correspondence mailbox from 8.30am to 4.30pm/5pm

About you
Highly organised and attention to detail administrative professional
Superior Content Manager, EWMS and Outlook skills
Superior communication skills
High-level executive, administrative, and correspondence support experience
Ability to stay calm and productive under pressure
Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
Essential requirements of the role
Hold a valid clearance to work with children (Working with Children Check) for paid employment.
Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
