We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join our growing team in the furniture industry. The ideal candidate will have experience in cost accounting and financial analysis, with a solid understanding of manufacturing processes and the furniture sector. The primary responsibility of the Cost Accountant will be to analyze costs, identify areas for improvement, and provide accurate and timely financial information to support decision-making processes. Responsibilities: Cost analysis: Analyze and evaluate material, labor, and overhead costs to determine the actual cost of manufacturing furniture products. Develop and maintain standard cost structures for new and existing products. Inventory management: Monitor and maintain accurate inventory records, including tracking work-in-progress, finished goods, and raw materials. Conduct periodic physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies. Variance analysis: Perform monthly variance analysis to compare actual costs with standard costs, identifying areas for improvement and cost reduction opportunities. Budgeting and forecasting: Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts, taking into account historical costs, sales trends, and market conditions. Financial reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for management, including cost analysis, profitability analysis, and other relevant metrics. Process improvement: Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance cost accounting efficiency and accuracy. Collaborate with other departments to implement cost-saving initiatives. Cost allocation: Develop and maintain appropriate cost allocation methods to ensure accurate allocation of overhead and indirect costs to individual products. Pricing analysis: Support the sales and marketing team by providing cost and pricing analysis for new products, promotions, and customer bids. Compliance: Ensure adherence to accounting policies, standards, and regulations, including GAAP and any industry-specific guidelines. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A professional certification such as CMA or ACCA is a plus. Minimum of 3 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in the furniture or manufacturing industry. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and analyze financial data. Proficiency in accounting software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial reporting. Knowledge of GAAP and relevant accounting standards, as well as industry-specific regulations.
