About the role
You will play a pivotal role in assisting the Governance Team Leader with the promotion of good governance, maintaining probity of Council’s decision making processes, the implementation of Council’s Corporate Governance, Policy, Delegations and Legislative Compliance Frameworks and ensuring awareness and currency of administration and governance practices and policies.
You will assist in the staging and support of Council meetings, Councillor Briefings, Community Information Seminars and other gatherings. You will implement and maintain various frameworks and statutory registers including the Corporate Governance Framework, Legislative Compliance Framework, Delegations Register and Policy Framework.
Requirements
Relevant tertiary qualification, in local government, business, commerce, management, law and/or extensive experience in a role with strong governance and compliance requirements
Demonstrated ability to maintain integrity and exercise sound judgement and discretion with confidential information in a politically sensitive environment
Demonstrated substantial knowledge and ability to interpret and apply legislation preferably with knowledge of the NSW Local Government Act 1++3 and associated regulations
Ability to draft policies, prepare reports, submissions, minutes and briefing papers on a wide variety of topics for consumption by stakeholders at a variety of levels
Exceptional attention to detail, communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
