Job Summary
The Food Counter Sales Representative is responsible for providing exceptional customer service, ensuring smooth food counter operations, and promoting sales of food items. This role includes taking orders, handling transactions, preparing food as required, and maintaining a clean and organized counter area. The ideal candidate should have excellent communication skills, a friendly demeanor, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced food service environment.
Key Responsibilities1. Customer Service
Greet customers warmly and assist them with menu selections.
Take and process food and beverage orders accurately and promptly.
Address customer inquiries and handle any complaints or issues professionally.
2. Sales and Upselling
Promote daily specials, combo deals, or featured menu items.
Upsell and cross-sell food and beverage items to maximize sales.
Ensure customer satisfaction by offering suggestions based on their preferences.
3. Order Preparation and Fulfillment
Coordinate with the kitchen or food preparation team to ensure orders are accurate and timely.
Assemble food items for presentation and packaging as required.
Ensure all food is handled safely and follows hygiene standards.
4. Transaction Handling
Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system to process cash, card, and other payment methods.
Issue receipts and manage refunds or exchanges as per company policies.
Balance the cash register at the end of the shift and report discrepancies.
5. Counter Maintenance
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the food counter, displays, and surrounding areas.
Replenish stocks of food items, utensils, and packaging supplies as needed.
Ensure all food items are labeled, displayed attractively, and within expiry dates.
6. Compliance and Safety
Follow company policies regarding food handling, hygiene, and safety standards.
Adhere to local health and safety regulations.
Participate in regular training sessions to stay updated on food safety practices.
7. Collaboration
Work closely with team members to ensure efficient counter operations.
Communicate feedback or suggestions from customers to the supervisor.
Participate in team meetings to discuss sales strategies and performance goals.
QualificationsEducation and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience in food service, counter sales, or customer service is preferred.
Skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a busy environment.
Basic math skills for handling payments and transactions.
Familiarity with food safety and hygiene practices is a plus.
