Join our Client Services Program as a Helpline Counsellor and make a meaningful impact in the lives of those we serve. We're currently looking for a compassionate and dedicated counsellor to fill a full-time, unionized position, working Monday to Thursday 11am to 8:45pm.

Reporting to the Team Lead, the Court Case Coordinator’s focus is to support clients who are experiencing Domestic violence and abuse with information about the court process and resources that they can access to support in the decision-making process.

Court Case Coordinators prepare clients for court by outlining the court process and what to expect. Court Case Coordinators provide support, assistance, and information in understanding and completing an order, the procedure for filing an order and safety planning for attending court. The Court Program provides individuals with information on the justice system, referrals to legal resources, and assistance on exercising their rights as they navigate the justice system.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

Maintain a combined caseload of active and brief services clients.
Conducts safety planning specifically tailored to court related interactions.
Prepare clients for court appearances/proceedings-assisting them with court readiness (specific to Family Court matters).
Provide debrief support/sessions following court proceedings.
Provide comprehensive information about legal proceedings and court processes (as they relate to domestic violence/Family Law matters)
Accompany clients to court proceedings to help them navigate the court house, offer moral support and general guidance.
Complete client led case planning with all active caseload clients.
Complete Danger Assessments and safety planning with all active caseload clients.
Provide community resources and referrals appropriate to identified needs of clients.
Collaborate with other professionals, as needed, to support clients goals and needs.
Responsible for managing risk with clients, including identifying risk to self or others, and risks of harm to children. When risk is identified, consulting with others as needed, escalating these concerns to supervisors, and following established processes and documentation
Complete referrals to partnering legal resources for clients seeking legal advice and/or guidance.
Attend joint Community Services Counselling and Court Program team meetings, staff supervisions and client consultations.
Completes all required documentation related to client file management within the established timelines. (NOTE: this includes the client surveys but I think this bullet captures everything).
Complete all personnel/employee administrative documentation within the established timelines.
Attend meetings with clients virtually, over the phone, in person and at the Court House.
Attend the Community Services Counselling and Court Program team meetings, supervisions, and case consultations.
Ensure Compliance with Accreditation Standards; Maintain current police and IRC checks, professional registration (if applicable), and required accreditation-related training (e.g., First Aid, NVCI, Indigenous, Diversity, response-based).
Ensure client files meet accreditation standards and agency policies
Other duties as assigned to support FearIsNotLove’s clients and program.
WHAT YOU BRING TO OUR MISSION:

Diploma in Criminology and Justice Studies required.
Degree in Criminology and Justice Studies preferred.
Minimum two years of experience of Court Systems and working with individuals who have experienced DV and abuse is required.
Knowledge and awareness of culturally sensitive client needs and resource availability.
The ability to analyze situations in guiding safety plans that supports the client’s safety and the safety of others in court.
Strong knowledge and linkage to external services and systems that are available to the clients.
Knowledge and experience of the Response Based Practice is an asset.
Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle is required.
A second language would be an asset.
First Aid, ASIST and other certifications and ongoing training and development are a required condition of employment.

If eligible for registration with a professional body, registration must be current.
