Court Security Officer – Hamilton District Court - Permanent, Full Time

This will be an overview of your role:
engage and build relationships with a diverse range of people
security screening, operate and maintain CCTV and electronic access control systems
interacting with other agencies and stakeholders such as Police, Corrections, lawyers, Judicial officers to ensure safe court proceedings
patrol public areas, carry out building security checks, respond to duress alarm activations, identify, mitigate, respond and report security, health and safety threats and incidents
Ō pūkenga/Skills and Experience
customer service, Security, Defence or Government experience is desired but not essential as full training is provided
confident with technology
experience of de-escalation techniques
physical ability to engage and pass qualification requirements in full contact Officer safety training
hold and maintain a full clean New Zealand drivers' licence and clean criminal record
have knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, bring an understanding and appreciation of cultural issues and concerns in particular Tikanga Maori, and an understanding of their relevance to the Court Security Role and the Ministry of Justice

This is a 40 hour, Monday to Friday role with paid overtime available when extra cover is required. Rostered hours may include a minimum 4-hour shift on Saturdays.

At Te Tāhū o te Ture - the Ministry of Justice, we're committed to strengthening people's trust in the law of Aotearoa, New Zealand.
Hamilton District Court would be your home base, however when operational needs necessitate there will be requirements to deploy to Te Awamutu, Te Kuiti, Huntly, Morrinsville and Thames Court when required. Travel costs are met by the Ministry.

Utu ā-tau/Salary
Salary band for this role is: $60,729 to $80,794. Starting salary will be dependent on skills and experience.
