Job Description
As the Courtside Café Chef/Server, you will oversee the daily operations of the Ottawa Tennis Club’s Courtside Café, ensuring the preparation and service of high-quality, fresh, and appealing food and beverages for members and guests. This daytime position requires excellent culinary skills, a strong focus on customer service, and the ability to maintain a clean and efficient kitchen in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Prepare and serve a variety of café-style dishes, including light meals, snacks, and beverages.
Maintain a small, appealing menu with a focus on fresh, high-quality ingredients.
Manage daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation.
Train, schedule, and supervise staff to maintain a professional and efficient team.
Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant kitchen that adheres to food safety and sanitation standards.
Monitor inventory levels and handle ordering, receiving, and proper storage of supplies.
Minimize food waste through effective menu planning and inventory management.
Provide exceptional customer service by ensuring prompt and friendly interactions with members and guests.
Collaborate with club staff to support special events or activities requiring café services.
Inspect and maintain kitchen equipment, reporting maintenance or repair needs, as necessary.
Ensure all meals and snacks are prepared and served promptly to meet customer expectations.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a chef or cook, preferably in a management position
Customer service experience preferred.
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
Valid Food Handler's Certificate.
Valid SmartServe Certificate
Strong organizational and time-management skills to meet service schedules and customer demand.
Creativity and flexibility to adjust menus and offerings based on seasonal ingredients and member preferences.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items when necessary.
Availability to work daytime hours, including weekends
Job Type: Seasonal
Contract length: 7 months
Pay: $22.00-$24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
