As a CPIC Operator, you will report to a CPIC Team Lead and play a key role in the secure dissemination of confidential information. This includes communicating by radio, telephone, in person, and through the CPIC system with police personnel and authorized external agencies. Operators collaborate closely with law enforcement partners to ensure that all information shared is accurate, reliable, and used appropriately.
We are seeking individuals with strong communication skills, detailed orientation, reliable with a commitment to professionalism to take on the following responsibilities:

Process criminal and traffic warrants, other court orders and police reports as required in a timely sensitive manner.
Perform data entry, removal and maintenance of agency records on the CPIC system.
Enter, audit, monitor and act upon requests received via CPIC message, in-person, telephone, fax and take appropriate action.
Respond to police field unit requests for information from specialized police databases and disseminate using radio operations, telephone and in person.
Transcribing live information using radio operations and telephone, with an emphasis on Officer Safety.
Support team success by training new CPIC Operators and verifying peer data entries.
Retrieving and re-filing files.
Performing other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Incumbents must complete a CPIC training course within two (2) years of appointment.
A minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience within a Police/Court environment or a specialized area including experience in data entry and retrieval from data bases.
Extensive experience in data entry and retrieval of information from databases.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
Effective communication (oral and written) skills with attention to detail.
Excellent ability to transcribe information with a high degree of accuracy.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure utilizing excellent prioritization and multi-tasking skills.
Strong reading and comprehension skills.
Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment under pressure while maintaining composure in fast‑paced, high‑stress situations.
Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including the bending, lifting of banker boxes, etc.
Experience in radio communications would be considered an asset.

Hours of Work:

40 hours per week, 12-hour shifts, four days on/off rotating between 2 days and 2 nights shift pattern.

Salary Range:

21B, Salary Grade: 008, $26.272 - $32.923 (Hourly), $2,101.80 - $2,633.80 (Bi-Weekly), $54,855.94 - $68,743.22 (Annually).
The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
