Job Description
As our Layout Designer, you'll be responsible for designing eye-catching and fun page layouts for a monthly educational newspaper targeted at school students (Grades 5 to 12). You'll work closely with our content team to turn stories, activities, and educational tidbits into beautifully designed pages that kids love to read and schools are proud to share.
What You'll Do:
• Design engaging and playful newspaper page layouts using Adobe InDesign
• Create and edit illustrations, infographics, and child-friendly visuals in Illustrator and Photoshop
• Collaborate with writers and editors to ensure designs align with the tone, theme, and curriculum goals
• Maintain a consistent visual style that appeals to students while keeping the content educational
• Meet weekly deadlines and manage multiple editions when needed
What We're Looking For:
• Strong skills in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop
• A great eye for typography, layout, and color – especially for younger audiences
• Experience with children’s content or educational design is a big plus
• Ability to turn boring text into vibrant, readable pages
• Organized, dependable, and creative thinker
• Portfolio that showcases relevant layout work (bonus points for kid-related designs!)
