Full job description
We don’t do boring. We create work people hear and feel.
As a Material Creative Writer at MediaWorks, you’ll play a key role in bringing campaigns to life across some of New Zealand’s most loved radio brands and digital platforms. This is an exciting opportunity for someone starting their creative career where you'll be crafting compelling advertising content whilst ensuring commercials go to air accurately, on time, and to the highest standard.
The Opportunity
Based in Freeman’s Bay and reporting to the Regional Creative Manager, you’ll work closely with Account Managers, producers, clients, and internal teams to deliver impactful, customer-focused advertising campaigns.
From writing engaging radio copy and selecting music beds, through to managing material instructions, campaign updates, and daily deadlines, no two days are the same. One minute you could be crafting a punchy retail script, the next you’re coordinating late bookings, and updating urgent campaign copy.
If you love creativity but also thrive on organisation, deadlines, and detail — this role gives you the best of both worlds. Apply now and be sure to include examples of your writing.
Your Skills & Experience
While a recent degree in media or communications, or some experience in a media, creative, traffic, or commercial content setting is ideal, what will truly make you stand out is your creative writing and meticulous attention to detail.
You’ll also bring:
Excellent written communication and copywriting ability
A sharp eye for detail, spelling, grammar, and accuracy
The ability to work calmly in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Confidence managing multiple stakeholders and shifting priorities
A collaborative, positive attitude and willingness to jump in and help
Curiosity, initiative, and a solutions-focused mindset
Understanding of advertising standards and broadcasting regulations (or willingness to learn quickly)
Most importantly, you’re someone who loves media, enjoys being part of a creative team, and takes pride in making things happen behind the scenes.
Why you'll enjoy working at MediaWorks:
You’ll be part of a creative team that values ideas, backs talent, and gives you the space to do your best work. This is a place where you can influence, experiment, and grow—while delivering work that’s heard by millions.
A culture built on inclusion, respect, and loving your tribe.
Work in a vibrant, social environment where creativity, innovation, and "we don't do boring" lead the way.
Work flexibility with a weekly work from home day
Enjoy birthday leave, volunteer leave, exclusive MediaWorker perks and discounts, and free access to our wellness platform.
MediaWorks office, located in Freeman’s Bay, with easy access to public transport
Be part of a fun, supportive and inclusive team that celebrates differences and makes a positive impact.
Get involved with Moana, Rainbow, and Women's network groups, and support community change through the MediaWorks Foundation.
