Job Description
The Local Project is one of the fastest-growing design publications across Australia, New Zealand, and North America. We celebrate extraordinary local design and its global impact through premium print, digital, video, and social content. With over 100 million impressions per month, we’re redefining design media on a global scale. In 2024, we expanded with The Local Production, a full-service creative agency dedicated to elevating brands through strategic storytelling and high-end content creation.
This role is responsible for developing and editing short-form social content for The Local Project and our commercial partners, including a large on-going client with regular deliverables. Working closely with the Head of Production, Digital Director, producers and the broader The Local Project team, this role involves developing and editing original live action footage as well as using supplied client video material to create compelling, short video content for social media and digital platforms. The ability to shoot social video content is also highly regarded, but not essential as the role will mainly be editing focussed.
The Role
Edit short social media videos of 5-60seconds, up to 1-3 minutes duration, using a mix of provided shoot footage, other client supplied materials, interviews and b-roll.
Apply best practice social media experience to produce edits that drive engagement.
Edit to time, ensuring strong pacing, tone and emotional rhythm aligned with the brand.
Integrate music, voiceover and sound design where appropriate.
Create and apply subtle motion graphics, lower thirds, transitions and title sequences using After Effects or within Premiere Pro, produced in collaboration with our Design team from templated graphics.
Work alongside the Partnerships teams and Producers to interpret client feedback in subsequent cuts.
Delivering, storing and filing all raw footage and final assets.
About You:
Minimum of 2 years’ experience working as a video editor for social media content.
Proficiency in editing software including Davinci Resolve and Adobe Premiere Pro.
Ability to animate motion graphics on Fusion or After Effects.
A proven ability to craft a story from raw material.
Solid knowledge of the whole production process.
Experience with editing footage captured on both RED and Black Magic camera equipment (ability to handle equipment as required will be considered a bonus).
Experience working in the Architecture and Design industries or documentaries will be looked upon favourably.
