Responsibilities and duties will include:
First line of credit sanctioning, taking responsibility for collating data, assessing information, and recommending credit facilities
Manage a portfolio of SME clients from a risk management perspective
Analyse credit data and bank statements to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money to a client
Generate risk rating outputs using standard templates, and to evaluate customers’ financial status
Prepare credit applications and submit to sanctioning authority for approval
Evaluate customer records on an ongoing basis, and review client files to identify and manage accounts showing signs of distress
Work with the wider business and the development team to improve the collation of data, risk assessment tools, and process improvements
Continually assess the clients’ ongoing creditworthiness
Contribute towards the strategic development of the business, and in particular the Credit Management function
Essential Skills and Competencies
Over 2 years of experience in commercial loan underwriting, credit sanctioning or credit analysis within the UK SME sector – Ideally held lending mandate of minimum of £40K
Strong business acumen with a clear understanding of the risk and revenue factors that influence creditworthiness
Confident in interpreting and analysing financial statements
Experience working with Open Banking data
Self-motivated and adaptable, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and changing environment
Excellent communication skills with regular customer contact and close collaboration with other teams
Analytical mindset with a practical approach to problem solving, offering scalable solutions and suggesting process improvements
Negotiate effectively with a range of stakeholders
