Position Title: Culinary Staff

Reports To: Head Chef, Sous Chef, or Kitchen Manager

The Culinary Staff is responsible for assisting in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of dishes according to established recipes and standards. They work under the supervision of the Head Chef, Sous Chef, or Kitchen Manager to ensure that all menu items are prepared and served with attention to quality, taste, and presentation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Food Preparation:

- Assist in the preparation of ingredients by washing, peeling, cutting, and portioning as directed.

- Measure and assemble ingredients according to recipes and portion control standards.

- Follow standardized recipes and cooking techniques to ensure consistency in food quality.

2. Cooking:

- Operate kitchen equipment and machinery, such as stoves, ovens, grills, and fryers.

- Cook food in various utensils or grillers as per the chef’s instructions.

- Monitor and regulate cooking temperatures to ensure food is cooked to the appropriate safety standards.

3. Plating and Presentation:

- Assist in the arrangement and garnishing of dishes.

- Ensure that final dishes are visually appealing and meet presentation standards.

4. Cleanliness and Sanitation:

- Adhere to all sanitation and food safety guidelines and regulations.

- Clean and maintain work areas, equipment, and utensils in a safe and sanitary manner.

- Dispose of waste and kitchen debris in accordance with established procedures.

5. Inventory and Stock Management:

- Assist in the receiving, storage, and rotation of food supplies.

- Notify the supervisor of low inventory levels and assist in restocking.

6. Collaboration:

- Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations and timely delivery of orders.

- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding any issues or needs.

7. Menu Knowledge:

- Familiarize oneself with the menu offerings, including ingredients, preparation methods, and special instructions.

8. Adherence to Regulations:

- Comply with all health, safety, and hygiene standards and policies.

- Adhere to portion control guidelines to minimize food waste.

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent.

- Previous experience in a similar role is preferred.

- Knowledge of culinary techniques, kitchen equipment, and food safety practices.

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

- Strong attention to detail and a passion for cooking and food preparation.

- Physical stamina and ability to stand for extended periods.

- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Working Condition:

- Culinary staff members typically work in a hot and fast-paced kitchen environment.

- They may be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on the establishment's operating hours.
