Business Overview: Custody Operations - Breaks Governance - VP
Custody Operations are responsible for front to end processing of 1700+ clients, with $27.8 trillion Assets under Custody across 100 Global markets. This includes from Onboarding, Settlements, Client Service and Asset Servicing.
This role requires a wide range of strengths and capabilities, including:
Strong Custody background within Operations / Program Management / Risk & Control
Strong People management skills & Communication skills
Excellent understanding of program management standards and methods
Experience working with high-performing teams in project execution
Strong understanding of stakeholder management, management, risk management and operations
Ability to create and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders throughout the firm
Key Responsibilities
Ensure all accounts across custody are known and certified periodically to ensure consistency in reporting
Investigation and resolution of complex issues and enquiries related to Nostro and internal breaks with timely issue identification and escalation with proposed remediation, Regulatory oversight, reporting and escalation of Operations functions to other jurisdictions / Legal entities
Conducting spot checks to ensure effectiveness and consistency on the existing controls and breaks management on a periodic basis. Ongoing review of key themes / reasons creating breaks to ensure controls are regularly reviewed, implemented and followed
Internal cash account reconciliation, including the investigation and reporting of breaks &Agent activities to be coordinated with different stake holder under Asset servicing.
Provide effective team communication through regular one-to-ones and team meetings providing information on changes impacting the team this includes but is not limited to market changes, functional moves and procedural / service changes.
Reconciliation of General Ledger balances and provide information to Finance to substantiate the balances outstanding & Static data configuration for Asset servicing payments for Collateral clients
Risk Awareness and Escalation, regular review of breaks for potential risks and dealing with system issues
Key Competencies required for the role:
Successful performance in a risk based environment with a proven track record of risk reduction
Results based experience demonstrating strategic and analytical thinking.
Track record of working in a changing environment with the experience of learning, documenting and implementing new processes efficiently.
Demonstrated experience of multi-tasking and effective time management with attention to detail in a fast paced environment.
Proven team management and leadership skills
Experience of communicating both oral and written to management, clients and colleagues
Must have advanced Microsoft Office skills: Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Desirables:
Relevant degree education preferred, however, non-degree candidates with a proven track record in a similar role will be considered.
Financial Services background would be preferred, ideally within a Custody or Investment Bank environment.
Experience of Managing global teams preferably within Custody Operations with experience in Asset Servicing, Trades, Settlements etc
Proficient in Microsoft Office & Project Management skills
