For over 40 years, manuhiri (visitors) from around the world have enjoyed the iconic Agrodome Farm Show and tour. With attractions like the Woollen Mill and Shearing Museum, Agrodome offers a fun and educational experience 365 days a year. As international travel resumes, we’re excited to welcome back guests from China and grow our team to support this important market.
About the Role
Reporting to the Manager – Asian Market Operations, this role is all about creating unforgettable experiences for our Chinese-speaking guests. You’ll welcome and host tour groups, provide live commentary and translation in Mandarin, interpret the farm show and activities, and ensure smooth coordination throughout their visit. You’ll also support retail operations and contribute to the overall guest journey across Agrodome and associated experiences.
As part of the Ngāi Tahu Tourism whānau, this is a unique opportunity to contribute to our vision of enriching the lives of current and future generations of Ngāi Tahu Whānui.
What You’ll Bring
Fluency in Mandarin (essential), with strong English communication skills
A passion for delivering exceptional customer service with a sense of manaakitanga
Experience guiding and translating for large groups (50+ people)
At least 12 months’ experience in a busy tourism or customer-facing role
Confidence using IT systems including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
A warm, engaging personality with a great sense of humour
Ability to work well in a diverse team and remain calm under pressure
Flexibility to work weekdays, weekends, and public holidays
Willingness to learn about Ngāi Tahu culture, history, and values
