This role is being advertised as both ongoing and non-ongoing, with the employment type to be determined in negotiation with the preferred candidate and the PM&C delegate.
Where a non-ongoing specified term is offered, this would be for a maximum period of two (2) years. If the initial contract is for less than 2 years, it may be extended or renewed once, up to the 2 year limit.
A non-ongoing offer may result in conversion to an ongoing offer of employment, however this must occur within 18 months from the opening date of this advertisement.

Who we are
The Cyber Strategy and Governance (CSG) team within PM&C is responsible for cyber security strategy and oversees the department’s cyber security governance, risk and compliance functions.
The CSG team forms part of the Digital, Security, and Workplace Operations Division. Our division delivers workplace and business services that support PM&C and our shared services partners to operate effectively and deliver business outcomes. Our services span property, security, digital and information communications technology.
What you will do
Deliver and maintain cyber security policies, plans and procedures
Deliver, maintain and present cyber security training for staff members
Provide technical security advice in the planning and implementation of new hardware and software solutions
Develop and maintain system authorisation documentations
Maintain currency and expertise in security related technologies, standards, trends, issues and solutions
Apply innovative secure solutions to customer-centric ICT and cyber security projects
Assist in developing and improving cyber security posture of ICT systems managed by PM&C
Conduct security risk assessments and security review of technologies
Support business outcome by providing cyber security advice and handling cyber security enquiries.
What you will bring
The successful candidates will have established communication skills, will have a technical background in ICT or cyber security, will promote a positive security culture, and have a willingness to embrace new concepts and technology. While specialised cyber security knowledge is desirable, it is not considered essential provided a demonstrated technical background is available.
The candidate must have:
A cyber security or ICT background, preferably with the application of cyber security services in Australian Government or enterprise
Be able to write and maintain security documentation, such as security policy and security risk assessments, in accordance with Australian Government guidelines and industry standards
Work independently, have an eye for detail and be able to prioritise competing tasks
The ability to foster working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Highly desirable:
Experience in cyber security and the application of Australian government guidelines to systems is considered very desirable
Experience or knowledge in Cloud security and risk management.
Eligibility
Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the APS unless the Agency Head has agreed otherwise, in writing. At PM&C to be eligible for this position you should be an Australian Citizen by the completion of the recruitment process, except under exceptional circumstances.
The successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance, or hold a current security clearance of an appropriate level.
The successful candidate will be assessed through our pre-employment screening checks, such as an Australian Criminal History Check, and will normally be subject to a six-month probation period if new to the APS or has not yet completed their probation period elsewhere in the APS.
