About your new role
The Cyber Security Architect supports the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of secure technology solutions across the organisation.
The Architect contributes to the development of secure systems and architectures that align with the City’s Cyber Security Strategy and frameworks such as the Australian Government ISM, NIST CSF, and SOCI obligations.
Responsibilities include:
Contribute to the development and documentation of security architecture patterns, standards, and guidelines for the City.
Evaluate and recommend systems for security risks and provide expertise for mitigation strategies.
Participate in threat modelling, risk assessments, and security design reviews under the guidance of senior architects.
Contribute to the implementation of security controls across IT and OT environments, ensuring alignment with Confidentiality, Integrity, Availability (CIA) principles.
Collaborate with enterprise architects, solution designers, and cyber operations teams to ensure security is embedded early in project lifecycles.
Maintain awareness of emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and regulatory changes (e.g., Qld Privacy Acts, SOCI obligations).
Assist in the development of artefacts such as security blueprints, capability maps, standards, patterns and solution overlays.
Lead and support various projects using sound project management methodology to meet key deliverables.
Identify and mitigate various cyber threats and vulnerabilities, using risk assessment techniques.
Source, implement and manage cloud security, network security, and large COTS product architecture.
We're looking for people who have:
Bachelor degree inComputer Science, Information Technology or equivalent knowledge and experience
Relevant professional certifications such as SABSA, or CISSP
Note: This position is classified as a security-sensitive critical infrastructure position and the successful candidate will be required to undertake an AusCheck Background Check. This background check may cause a delay to our onboarding process.
