TalentFish is casting a line for a Cybersecurity Communications Lead to support a large, complex university environment. This role is ideal for a security professional who excels at bridging the gap between cybersecurity and the business—translating risk into clear, actionable insights while driving a strong culture of security awareness and accountability.
This is a high-impact, newly created position focused on embedding cybersecurity into day-to-day operations across academic and administrative functions.
What You’ll Do
• Act as the primary cybersecurity liaison to business, academic, and administrative stakeholders
• Translate technical security risks into clear, business-friendly communication and action plans
• Lead security awareness, communication strategies, and stakeholder engagement efforts
• Partner with IT, Risk, and Compliance teams to identify and mitigate cybersecurity risks
• Support risk assessments, security reviews, and remediation planning across applications and initiatives
• Influence and support incident response communications and coordination
• Help mature governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) processes
• Promote secure-by-design principles across projects and programs
• Provide guidance on identity security, cloud security, and zero-trust initiatives
What You Bring
• Experience in cybersecurity, information security, or security risk management
• Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
• Experience working in cross-functional, business-facing security roles
• Strong understanding of:
• Cybersecurity risk and controls
• Security frameworks (NIST, ISO, CIS)
• Identity & Access Management (IAM) concepts
• Experience supporting security awareness or communication initiatives
• Familiarity with cloud environments (Azure / AWS) and enterprise systems
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
Nice to Have
• Experience in higher education, healthcare, or large enterprise environments
• Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CRISC
• Exposure to privacy, compliance, or audit functions
• Experience supporting AI governance or emerging technology risk
