Purpose of position
We are looking for a Business Analyst to play a key role in managing and optimising Parrot Analytics’ internal catalogue systems, which are core to the company’s global data operations. The role focuses on improving metadata workflows, ensuring data integrity, and supporting system enhancements that enable the accurate ingestion, tracking, and delivery of entertainment content information across multiple teams and platforms.
This position bridges the gap between cataloguing operations, engineering, and business stakeholders, ensuring that business needs are clearly translated into functional system requirements and continuous improvements are delivered.
The salary range for the role is $70,000-$80,000 per year. This is a permanent full-time position, 40 hours a week from Monday-Friday and being available during weekends if needed as we work with a global team.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyse current workflows, system capabilities, and bottlenecks related to internal catalogue systems.
Document detailed business and functional requirements for new features, process enhancements, and automation opportunities.
Collaborate closely with engineering, data operations, and content teams to refine cataloguing rules, metadata structures, and classification logic.
Translate business needs into system specifications and user stories to guide development and QA efforts.
Support testing and deployment of system upgrades or workflow changes, ensuring business impact is assessed and managed.
Monitor system usage and data quality metrics to proactively identify issues and opportunities for improvement.
Build reports and internal dashboards to track the status, coverage, and accuracy of catalogue content using tools like Excel, SQL, and Power BI.
Maintain documentation of workflows, system logic, and operational SOPs for internal teams.
Skills, knowledge and experience
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Information Systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field (NZQF Level 7+) or at least 5 years experience in a database management or data analytics role.
Experience in the media and entertainment industry.
Demonstrated experience in system analysis, process improvement, or operations within a data-driven or SaaS environment.
Strong analytical and communication skills to interface with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience working with large-scale datasets, classification systems, or metadata is advantageous.
Familiarity with database tools and SQL queries to extract data patterns and information to make data driven decisions.
Technical skills including data management, data extraction, cleaning, transformation, and visualization
Detail-oriented and a highly organised, systematic and proactive thinker
Excellent time management and able to troubleshoot and solve problems quickly
Proficient in office product suites like Excel, Google Sheets etc.
Works well with others with high-energy in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
