• Annual leave: 28 days (full-time), rising by one day on the first and second anniversaries of employment

Who we are

Support Through Court is a small social justice charity that packs a big punch. We help increase access to justice for those who, due to severe cuts to legal aid, are forced to face the Civil and Family courts alone and without legal representation, often in life-changing cases such as domestic violence, eviction, and debt.

Job Summary

This role requires a blend of technical data expertise, project management skills, and vendor management. It is ideal for someone:
• With a broad range of data and technical skills who likes a varied task list
• Has a track record of successfully managing third party vendors
• Is keen to use their knowledge to feed into organisational strategy

Purpose of post
• Oversee the charity’s IT infrastructure and data (includes security and data protection – e.g. GDPR across the organisation).
• Lead on monitoring and evaluation.
• Manage the internal Technology team and external third party IT and system vendors
• Lead development and delivery of the charity’s data and technology strategies

Main duties and responsibilities

1. Technology and Data Lead
• Lead adviser on IT infrastructure and data for the organisation.
• Developing and leading execution of the charity’s technology and data strategy.
• Managing the IT budget & providing budgetary projections.
• Prepare reports on the Technology Team’s work as needed (e.g. Board meetings)
• Overseeing all technology projects either through direct management or indirectly by managing other staff or third party vendors

2. IT infrastructure
• Responsible for the configuration, development, and maintenance of charity’s systems. Includes identifying how best to use systems to meet the charity’s needs with a focus on automation and consolidation wherever possible
• Ensure adequate hardware and software provision and appropriate hardware management process are in place.
• Ensure resolution of software and hardware queries and issues by the Technology Team and third party vendors.

3. Data
• Ensuring the relevant data is collected from all channels (e.g. staff, volunteers, clients, funders, etc.) to meet the monitoring and reporting needs of the charity.
• Designing & updating systems to capture and record the organisation’s data as identified in 2.1, and ensure it is provided in an easily accessible, up to date ready to use format.

4. System and data regulation
• Maintaining awareness of data and technology trends and changes in the charity and NFP sector and suggesting changes as needed.
• Using expertise from our Managed Service vendor to ensure compliance with statutory requirements relating to IT, systems, and data including licensing, cyber security, and data use and storage (including GDPR requirements). Includes updating and implementing new policies and training as needed and managing data breach resolution and recording.
• Ensure all staff and volunteers receive IT, data, and cyber security training as needed
• Ensure technology and data policies are updated as needed. Mentor staff in technology and data best practice and encourage a culture that embraces technology.

5. Line Management
• Line manage the IT Analyst
• Mentor and coach other team members as required
• Manage third party providers including vendors and Managed Service Providers, ensuring compliance with SLA’s, and identifying new vendors as needed.

6. General
• Ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with Support Through Courts equal opportunities, confidentiality, data protection and personal safety policies

Qualifications
• Graduate or (equivalent business experience)
• Relevant IT qualification or demonstrable, equivalent professional experience (e.g. CompTIA, MTA/MCSA, ITIL, etc.)

Essential requirements

Experience
• At least 2 years’ experience of operating at a senior level in a charity or service
• Experience of working with colleagues in-person and remotely across multiple locations
• Excellent planning and organisational skills, and a proven ability to deliver work on time and to deal with stressful situations and competing demands
• Detailed knowledge of IT infrastructure, cyber security, and data use and management
• Ability to think strategically, evolve with changing environments and identify potential opportunities and risks as it relates to technology and data.
• Considerable and successful procurement and management of third party vendors
• Significant experience and success in managing technology projects including creating and driving project timelines

Skills and Abilities
• Sound knowledge of ICT technology concepts and fundamentals (including security, risk management, business continuity, disaster recovery, etc.), as well as system and data rules and regulations (e.g. IT security, GDPR, etc.)
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 at an administrator level
• A strong understanding of data, databases, and information management
• Strong leadership and management skills, with proven ability to motivate and influence people from varying levels and departments both internally and externally
• Detail oriented, with excellent problem solving and decision making skills
• Flexible and ‘can do’ attitude to competing commitments in workload
• Proactive, with the ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
• Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and highly numerate
• Flexible, with willingness to work occasional unsocial hours and to travel throughout the UK with some overnight stays

Desirable requirements

Experience
• Working with remote client support systems (e.g. helpline, video call, webchat)
• Line management of others
• Working with volunteers in the voluntary sector
• CiviCRM, 3CX, Croner, and/or QuickBooks as a user or administrator

Skills and Abilities
• Knowledge of the civil and family judicial and court process in England and Wales
