Job Description
Unio Tech Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Data Centre Relocation Project Manager to support a special client project for an 8-month contract. This work involves the meticulous documentation of hundreds of racks of equipment including detailed maps and drawings of all data connections in preparation for the racks to be moved to a new location. The candidate selected for the role will be the senior lead, managing an existing team of technicians for the project and will report to Unio Tech’s owners.
Please note, this position is not remote. It requires going to the client’s North York location every day, as well as attending meetings at Unio Tech’s Markham office as needed.
During the relocation portion of the project, hours may include evenings and weekends. Attendance for the shifts during the relocation is a non-negotiable requirement for the project.
JOB DUTIES:
Overall Project Management
End-to-end project oversight, ensuring work stays on schedule and on budget
Ensure that all technicians are compliant with Unio Tech policies and client policies and procedures
Liaise with our partners as well as the client’s project management team
Report any issues that may come up on site immediately in writing to UTS Management
Provide weekly progress updates to UTS Management
Attend weekly client meetings to report progress
Drawing & Mapping
Draw detailed diagrams of all racks showing equipment locations and cable connections
Create accurate visual layouts using Visio that our tech team can refer to with ease to complete the equipment disconnect (at current location) and reconnect (in a new location)
Preparing original drawings (not just editing templates) – they need to be accurate and customized to fit our client’s needs
Labeling
Label all ports, cables, racks, and benches using TIA-606 standards
Remove old labels that don't match the new standards
Keep detailed records of all labels
Playbooks & Documentation
Create step-by-step playbooks for each phase of the move
Make checklists and audit forms to track work
Build reference guides for the team to follow
Use Microsoft Visio to draw all technical diagrams
Make sure all drawings are accurate and follow industry standards
Organize and store all files properly
Disconnect/Reconnect Move Management
Ensure all equipment from the existing racks is safely disconnected
Remain in constant communication with our client to ensure a smooth relocation
Ensure all equipment is reconnected at the new location in designated racks based on approved diagrams and labels
Complete cable management to secure cables neatly
Testing and sign-off of equipment with additional visual checks
Provide the client with post-move support
Qualifications:
A minimum of 10 years of experience in network infrastructure and IT support
A minimum of 10 years of experience in project management and team leadership
CompTIA A+ and Network+ Certified
Certified Data Center Management Professional (CDCMP) or Data Center Operations Manager (DCOM)
Full comprehension of TIA-606 compliant labeling
Expert in Microsoft Visio
Expert in Microsoft Excel
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Computer Science
Exceptional written communication skills
Meticulous, extremely organized and has a strong attention to detail
Takes initiative
Candidates with a driver’s license and a car are an asset
