Data Collector Job Duties
Data collectors have a wide range of responsibilities, which can include:
Interviewing participants to obtain information about their experiences using a product or service
Entering data into computer databases or spreadsheets, or creating charts based on the data collected
Observing customers’ reactions to new products in stores or customer service interactions with employees at call centers
Recording event attendance data such as how many people attended a concert or lecture
Collecting data that can be used to measure public opinion on topics such as politics, health care, education, or the environment
Observing businesses to determine how effectively they are operating and how satisfied customers are with their products or services
Collecting data on demographics and other characteristics of the population being studied, such as ethnicity, income level, or neighborhood segregation
Interviewing participants after an event has occurred to gather follow-up information
Conducting surveys over the phone or on paper to collect information about customers’ opinions regarding a company’s products or services
