We’re looking for a skilled and motivated Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain the data pipelines and infrastructure that underpin decision-making across Farmlands.
In this role, you’ll work closely with data scientists, analysts, developers, and business teams to turn raw data into valuable insights. You'll own end-to-end development of ETL/ELT pipelines, support our cloud-based data platform, and play a critical part in ensuring data quality, structure, and accessibility.
This is an exciting opportunity to help shape Farmlands’ data engineering practices, contribute to scalable systems, and make a tangible impact on the future of rural New Zealand.
This role is a fixed term position until 30 September 2026.

You’re a solutions-focused data professional with a passion for creating robust, reliable data infrastructure. You thrive in technical environments, love solving complex problems, and enjoy working collaboratively with others.
You’ll bring:
3+ years’ experience in data engineering or a related field
Proficiency in SQL and Python, and a strong grasp of ETL/ELT design
Solid understanding of data warehousing and dimensional modelling
Familiarity with tools such as git, dbt, Snowflake, or Airflow (a plus, not essential)
Experience with cloud platforms like Azure, AWS, or GCP
Strong communication skills and attention to data quality and governance
A tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a similar discipline is desirable.
