📢 Job Title: Senior Data Engineer (Data Platform Lead)
📍 Location: Remote (U.S. – Must work PST hours)
📅 Duration: 12-Month Contract
🚀 About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer / Data Platform Lead to drive the design, operation, and evolution of a modern enterprise data platform. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for managing the full data engineering ecosystem, enabling scalable analytics, and ensuring alignment with enterprise standards.
You will act as the bridge between Data Engineering, Cloud Infrastructure, DevOps, and Security teams, owning the platform and guiding best practices across the organization.
🔧 Key Responsibilities
🏗️ Platform Ownership & Strategy
• Own the end-to-end data engineering platform (ingestion, transformation, storage, orchestration)
• Define and enforce best practices across tools like Snowflake, dbt, and Informatica
• Drive platform architecture, standards, and roadmap
• Evaluate and implement enhancements, tools, and modern data patterns
🤝 Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Partner with Cyber Security, Cloud (AWS), DevOps, and Architecture teams
• Translate data engineering needs into scalable platform solutions
• Ensure alignment with governance, compliance, and enterprise standards
🧠 Technical Leadership
• Guide data engineers on platform usage, architecture, and best practices
• Establish and enforce dbt standards (modeling, testing, documentation)
• Ensure efficient, secure, and scalable use of Snowflake
• Promote DevOps and software engineering practices in analytics engineering
⚙️ DevOps & Automation
• Lead implementation of CI/CD pipelines for data workflows (dbt)
• Integrate Git-based version control and automated testing
• Partner with DevOps to improve deployment reliability and efficiency
📈 Operational Excellence
• Ensure platform performance, reliability, and cost optimization
• Define monitoring, alerting, and support processes
• Support audits, compliance, and risk mitigation
• Maintain documentation, runbooks, and onboarding guides
🛠️ Required Skills
• Strong experience with:
• Snowflake (architecture, administration, performance tuning)
• dbt (modeling, testing, documentation, environments)
• Informatica (PowerCenter and/or IICS)
• AWS (data platform supporting services)
• Hands-on experience with:
• CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins or similar)
• Git / GitHub version control
• Strong knowledge of:
• Data modeling & transformation best practices
• Cloud security & access controls
• Scalability, reliability, and cost optimization
👤 Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• 7+ years of experience in Data Engineering / Data Platform Engineering
• 3+ years in a technical leadership or platform ownership role
• Experience in enterprise or regulated environments preferred

• Experience supporting shared dbt/Snowflake platforms across teams
• Familiarity with data governance, metadata, and analytics catalogs
• Experience defining operating models for shared platforms
