This role
We’re looking for a Data Platform Manager to lead our Data Engineering and Analytics Engineering teams across Australia, Canada, and Vietnam.
This is a great opportunity for a deeply technical leader who can own both strategy and delivery, critically review technical proposals, and personally contribute to building high-impact data and AI capabilities.
A major focus of this role is delivering our AI-powered self-service analytics platform, treating it as a product: shipping quickly, measuring adoption, iterating, and operating comfortably with uncertainty.
Your key focus areas will be
Build and lead a high-performing Data and Analytics Engineering function operating effectively across three time zones, with clear ownership, pace, and accountability
Design and evolve a scalable, resilient data platform that underpins trusted reporting, analytics, and AI use cases across the business
Set and execute a clear data platform strategy and roadmap that aligns to business priorities and unlocks measurable value
Enable AI-powered, self-service analytics so teams can answer their own questions quickly, confidently, and without bottlenecks
Dramatically improve data reliability, performance, and trust, making data a dependable foundation for decision-making
Reduce analytics backlog by improving tooling, data models, and ways of working, shifting the team from reactive delivery to proactive enablement
Act as a strategic partner to Product, Engineering, Finance, Marketing, and Operations, translating business needs into durable data solutions
Communicate progress, risks, and trade-offs clearly to senior stakeholders, enabling informed decisions and timely course-correction
Create a culture of ownership, pragmatism, and delivery, where teams take responsibility for outcomes and ship meaningful improvements consistently
Who you are
To thrive at Employment Hero, you’ll need to embody The EH Way - operating with focus, agility, and an obsession with impact. For this role, you’ll also bring
Proven experience leading Data Engineering and Analytics Engineering teams
Strong hands-on background with modern data stacks
Comfortable being hands-on while managing and mentoring senior engineers
Product mindset: focused on outcomes, adoption, and impact
Strong bias for action and comfort operating with ambiguity
Excellent communicator in a distributed, cross-timezone environment
Able to challenge ideas constructively and make pragmatic decisions
Background working in fast-growing or product-led tech companies
It would be an added bonus if you have
Experience building or evaluating Text to SQL or AI-powered analytics tools
Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (e.g. Claude, OpenAI/Codex, GitHub Copilot)
Experience scaling self-service analytics platforms
What we can offer
At Employment Hero, we don’t just talk about a better way to work - we live it. Joining Employment Hero means
You will work remotely, with the flexibility to own your time and impact
You will access cutting-edge tools to amplify your work, knowledge and outputs
You’ll surround yourself with ambitious, outcome-driven colleagues who challenge you to do the best work of your life
You’ll own ESOP (employee share options) in one of the world’s fastest-growing tech companies
You’ll also have access to a wide range of benefits that includes - a very generous parental leave policy, subsidised egg freezing (so you can make the choice that’s right for you, on your terms), a WFH office expense budget, and outstanding learning & development opportunities
Annual Global Gathering - so far we’ve been to Thailand, Vietnam, Bali, Dubai and are excited to meet in Gold Coast in Australia in September 2026
We’re AI-first, so you may meet some of our AI tools early in the process. They help us cut the noise, surface great talent fast and make sure every candidate gets a fair, consistent experience.
