We seek a highly motivated Remote Sensing Data Scientist within our global Data Science to work on satellite remote sensing science and applications in collaboration with visionary crop scientists, agronomists, plant breeders, crop protection scientists, engineers, and software developers to build digitally enabled science and business capabilities.

Are you passionate about using leading edge earth observation data in new and effective ways to informing agriculture decisions around the globe? As part of this role, you will work among a team of remote sensing, data science, engineering, environment, and digital solutions experts to enhance the use of multi-sensor satellite imagery and analytics in digital solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Implement strong geospatial, remote sensing approaches including but not limited to remote sensing image processing, atmospheric/geometric correction, registering datasets from multiple sensors to commonly used coordinate systems and multi-sensor fusion.
• Engineer satellite remote sensing feature data sets and pipelines that inform seed and crop protection decision models.
• Apply machine learning, statistical, mechanistic models, and other computational approaches to extract insights from multi-sensor datasets in complex agronomic systems.
• Develop, prototype, and implement solutions with engineering and production teams.
• Communicate results of research with stakeholders to improve business decisions.
Qualifications

Requirements:

• Demonstrated experience using machine learning, data mining, statistical methodology, and simulation modeling in geospatial, environmental, and agronomic problems using Python in either AWS/GCS environment
• Outstanding problem-solving skills and a proven ability to:
• ask the right questions
• find or apply the correct domain knowledge
• identify and improve necessary data sources
• build predictive models
• deliver analytic solutions that produce actionable results.
• Strong skills in building visualizations of scientific data.
• Ph.D. or M.S. in Remote Sensing, Environmental Science, Computational Astronomy, Civil/Geotechnical Engineering, Computer Science, or related scientific discipline. Ideal candidate must have completed graduate level coursework in geographic information systems, environment, statistics, and machine learning.
