Job Title
Database Administration - Advisor I
Monitor and optimise the performance of application databases to meet performance and service level agreements
Participate in allocated DBA tasks, e.g. Oracle quarterly PSUs, Oracle upgrades, installations, backup and recovery, tuning, performance monitoring, day-to-day support, SQL Server patching
Troubleshoot and resolve Production incidents and participate in bridge calls in coordination with application support team in meeting the SLAs
Provide advice and guidance on database technology for new business systems
Manage ongoing initiatives, including server and system upgrades and maintain currency
Work with internal teams and vendors to resolve production issues when required
Participate in disaster recovery (BCP) exercises and on-call roster
Postgresql DBA JD
Installation/configuration/setup of postgres in Windows/Linux
Cluster/HA setup configurations.
Performance tuning.
Maintaining the database server software, using utilities such as pg_ctl or psql to restart services or manually restarting them if necessary
Monitoring database performance to identify slowdowns or potential issues
Managing users and permissions, including adding new users and removing inactive accounts
Managing disaster recovery procedures to ensure that data is safe in case of a physical disaster such as fire or flood
Creating database objects such as tables, views, triggers, and indexes
Maintaining the database schema, including creating new tables, adding columns to existing tables, and deleting unnecessary tables and data
Performing regular database backups to ensure data integrity in case of a server crash
Monitoring network security to ensure that unauthorized users cannot access the database server
Performing regular scheduled maintenance on the database server, such as vacuum analysis on large tables to remove obsolete data.
