ROLE DESCRIPTION
A challenging and fulfilling modern DBA role that appeals to individuals with a passion for database technology and who are equally comfortable in managing traditional RDBMS databases and distributed, saleable big data stores. Reporting to the Database Technology Manager, the Database Technology Consultant will be responsible for providing technical expertise in order to satisfy our customer’s database administration requirements. The role focuses on delivering database consultancy including pre-sales, design, and implementation for database solutions across many traditional and modern database products. A particular focus will be on growing the existing services portfolio to include new database technologies. There will be a requirement from time to time to deliver day to day support for Customer database environments.
EXPERIENCE: -
We are looking for candidates with an experience of 5-7 years in MSSQL or Oracle Database technologies.
RESPONSIBILITIES:-
Providing database consultancy for new and existing customers including remote consultancy as determined by the Database Technology Manager.
Work with product team to bring new data products into the existing product portfolio.
Support for Sales/Presales client discussions.
Create workplan and estimate for Database Scope of Works.
Qualification of day to day consultancy requirements.
Being part of a support team resolving incident tickets for our global client base.
Be part of an On Call support rota for 24/7 customer support.
Adhere to team processes and the direction of the Database Technology Manager.
COMPETENCIES: -
Significant customer facing delivery experience.
Proven ability to consult with customers on database matters, to recommend best practise and competent solutions that meet customer business requirements.
Proven experience of administering databases including clusters in a 24x7 business critical environment (Production).
Significant troubleshooting and performance tuning skills/experience.
Demonstrable ability for Installation, tuning and administration.
Strong knowledge of Clusters, Storage, Backups, Data Export/Import, Monitoring tools and disaster recovery.
Proven experience of working with RDBMS such as Oracle, SQL Server etc.
Knowledge of or interested in working with MySQL, PostgreSQL , MongoDB, MariaDB and many more.
Knowledge or interested in MSSQL Log Shipping, Clustering, Mirroring, Always On Availability Groups, Native Backup and Recovery, Oracle DB.
Knowledge of SQL, PL / SQL, T-SQL.
Shell Scripting.
Be a self-motivated proactive individual who is equally comfortable in working individually or as part of a wider team.
Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Deliver the appropriate balance between business need and technical perfection.
Have a can do attitude and demonstrate a passion for new technology and learning.
Take ownership through to successful delivery of any escalated technical database requirement.
Database vendor accredited DBA qualification would be beneficial.
Working Hours:-
Standard + hours per day with 1 hour lunch break between 8am and 6pm UK hours. Start and End times as defined by the team shift rota as devised by the Database Technology Manager. Base Location Pune Office (Hybrid mode)
