Job Description
Responsible for performance, integrity and security of the database. Responsibilities Installing and upgrading the database server and application tools Allocating system storage and planning future storage requirements for the database system Creating primary database storage structures (tablespaces) after application developers have designed an application Creating primary objects (tables, views, indexes) once application developers have designed an application Modifying the database structure, as necessary, from information given by application developers Enrolling users and maintaining system security Ensuring compliance with database vendor license agreement Controlling and monitoring user access to the database Monitoring and optimizing the performance of the database Planning for backup and recovery of database information Maintaining archived data on tape Backing up and restoring the database Contacting database vendor for technical support Generating various reports by querying from database as per need Additional role requirements are likely to include planning, development and troubleshooting. Responsible for maintaining the consistency of data across database, maintains data integrity and data security. Also plan, design and developing database maintenance procedures and also help the development team to design the database based on business requirements. Qualifications Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, replication issues, log shipping issues, connectivity issues, security issues etc. Experience in Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, using Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tools
