Senior and Intermediate Azure Database Administrator (2 roles)
Contract: 6mo (possible extension)
Location: Mississauga/ Brampton (fully onsite)
This role requires Valid Ontario Driver’s License (Class G) and access to a reliable car
Core Responsibility:
• Implementation and deployment of secure, highly available and scalable MSSQL Database environments, including configuration, provisioning, and automation of database backup
• Day-to-day operations of MSSQL, PostgreSQL and MariaDB database environments, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving incidents and problems.
• Backup and disaster recovery solutions, patching and updating systems, and optimizing performance and resource utilization
• Troubleshoot application and system issues
Requirements:
• 3-5 years of experience with MSSQL or other equivalent RDBMS in a large, complex and multi- application production environment
• MSSQL IaaS and PaaS in Azure Cloud
• Databases such as MariaDB or PostgreSQL.
• Windows server operating system, including Active Directory.
• ETL tools and familiarity with database interfaces for moving data from one system to another.
• Database management and data modeling tools for monitoring, securing and improving data systems e.g., SQL Sentry or IDERA or a similar tool.
• Experience in automation and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools, such as Terraform, Ansible, Gitlab, Docker, Jenkins, Python and PowerShell.
• Knowledge of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, firewalls, load balancers, and VPNs
• Strong knowledge of security principles and best practices in MSSQL, PostgreSQL and MariaDB database environments.
• Experience in Microsoft SQL Server and Azure Cloud vendor management - good to have
