JOB DESCRIPTION:
As a Database Developer, you will be crucial in designing, developing, and maintaining efficient and secure databases that support an organization's data management needs. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Database Design and Development:
Analyze and understand business requirements to design, develop, and implement appropriate database solutions.
Create and optimize database schemas, tables, views, and stored procedures for efficient data storage and retrieval.
Collaborate with software developers to integrate database components into applications, ensuring seamless functionality.
Data Modeling and Optimization:
Develop and maintain data models representing the organization's data structure and relationships.
Identify and implement performance optimization techniques like indexing, query optimization, and caching mechanisms.
Monitor and analyze database performance metrics to identify bottlenecks and recommend improvements.
Database Administration:
Install, configure, and upgrade database management systems (DBMS) and associated tools.
Monitor database systems to ensure optimal performance, availability, and reliability.
Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, including performance bottlenecks, data corruption, and system failures.
Collaboration and Documentation:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, provide technical guidance, and support data-related initiatives.
Document database designs, configurations, and troubleshooting procedures for future reference.
Stay updated with emerging trends and technologies in database management and propose innovative solutions to enhance data management processes.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Requirements:
Must be able to read, write and modify complex SQL queries.
Proven experience working as a Database Developer or in a similar role.
Strong knowledge and proficiency in SQL, NoSQL, relational database, and Data Warehouse management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, BigQuery, etc.).
Familiarity with data modeling and database design principles.
Basic understanding of performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting common database issues.
Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
Effective communication and collaboration skills to work within cross-functional teams.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Desired Skills:
Good understanding of, or preferably ITIL Foundation certified. Database certifications are a plus.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, customer focus, and ability to work with both technical and non-technical people.
Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking in resolving problems and documenting solutions.
Ability to work proactively, independently, and as part of a team, supporting other team members when required.
