Synechron is looking for an experienced DB2 LUW System Database Administrator to work on a long term programme of work for a well known financial, global institution. The role provides primary system DBA support for DB2 LUW database platforms, in support of multiple business and country units. Working on rotation with a US counterpart, the role covers UK hours with alternate weeks on 24/7 call (infrequent out of hours issues predicted). ROLE: Responsible for DBA administrative activities Participate in physical design, creation, and maintenance of databases Apply table and view modifications Monitor and tune database performance Consult in design of efficient tables and indexes Provide recovery of databases as necessary Maintain security of databases by granting and revoking of privileges Carry out entitlement reviews at the request of business units or GTS Utilise Database Utilities for the DBMS REQUIREMENTS: 2 or more years technical support experience in DB2 LUW Distributed databases on Linux Experience with DB2, TOAD, BMC/CDB, IBM Utilities, and Linux Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and technical knowledge Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills Flexibility to work on call, alternate weeks Diversity Statement S ynechron are proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
