Job Title: DB2 & PostgreSQL Database Administrator (with Snowflake & Azure Experience)
Location: Toronto, Canada (Hybrid – 2 Days Onsite/Week)
Type: Contract (1 Year, with possible extension)
Weekly Hours: Full-time (40 hrs/week)
Overview:
We’re seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator with strong experience in DB2 and PostgreSQL, along with hands-on expertise in Snowflake, Azure cloud services, and DevOps tools. The ideal candidate will be proactive, security-conscious, and capable of operating in a high-availability, high-security environment.
Core Responsibilities:
Administer and support DB2 and/or PostgreSQL databases in production and development environments
Manage and maintain Snowflake data warehouse solutions
Handle deployment and monitoring tasks using Jenkins, GitLab/Bitbucket, and Linux/Unix platforms
Ensure systems are secure, fault-tolerant, and highly available
Participate in 24/7 on-call rotations
Implement and maintain database security (encryption, masking, certificates, SSH, VPN, etc.)
Collaborate with DevOps, Security, and Engineering teams to automate processes and improve performance
Document processes, configurations, and best practices thoroughly
Required Skills & Qualifications:
5+ years of DB2 or PostgreSQL administration experience
2+ years of Snowflake administration and development experience
Solid experience with cloud-based PaaS database services
Proficiency with Jenkins, GitLab/Bitbucket, Linux/Unix
Experience supporting high-availability and fault-tolerant systems
Strong security awareness and experience with PKI, SSH, VPNs, encryption
Excellent problem-solving skills and analytical thinking
Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
Effective communicator at all organizational levels
Preferred / Bonus Skills:
Advanced Azure cloud experience
Deployment via Terraform and infrastructure-as-code methodologies
Exposure to Azure Cosmos DB or similar technologies
Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing, load balancers, and firewalls
Prior experience with PCI-DSS, or in regulated industries (finance, healthcare, government)
Familiarity with ITIL framework, JBoss, or WebSphere
Passion for automation and documentation
