Job Summary
The client is seeking a Local Preference: California locals preferred
Key Responsibilities
1. DBT Development & Data Transformation
Lead DBT-based ELT development and data modeling
Perform dbt run, dbt test, and environment management
Convert legacy Oracle PL/SQL procedures/views into DBT models
Implement testing (schema, unique, not_null) and maintain documentation (schema.yml)
2. Snowflake Architecture & Migration
Drive Oracle → Snowflake migration strategy
Optimize SQL using Snowflake micro-partitioning & clustering
Design Bronze / Silver / Gold data layers
Build scalable data models and pipelines
3. SQL & Reporting Support
Develop complex SQL queries, tables, and views
Support Power BI reporting teams
Conduct SQL design sessions and code reviews
4. Cloud & Data Lake Integration
Design and implement AWS-based data pipelines
Work with:
AWS Glue
Lambda
Step Functions
EventBridge
Transfer Family
Fivetran
Manage data lake inbound/outbound integrations
5. Leadership & Stakeholder Management
Lead architecture decisions and technical strategy
Manage offshore teams and deliverables
Handle UAT coordination and production cutover
Act as POC for critical migration issues (P0)
6. Governance & Standards
Define DBT standards, macros, CI/CD pipelines
Implement RBAC security in Snowflake
Maintain documentation and best practices
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree (BS/BA) in Computer Science, IT, or related field
10+ years of experience (Senior/Lead level)
5+ years of strong DBT + Snowflake experience (MANDATORY)
Strong hands-on experience with:
DBT (must be real project experience, not keywords)
Snowflake
SQL
Oracle / PL-SQL
ETL/ELT processes
AWS Cloud
Required Technical Skills
DBT (dbt run, dbt test, macros, models)
Snowflake (architecture + performance tuning)
SQL & PL/SQL
Oracle → Snowflake migration
AWS (Glue, Lambda, Step Functions, EventBridge)
Data Lake architecture
Git, Pull Requests, VS Code
Power BI (supporting role)
Nice to Have
Experience with Fivetran
Public sector / education domain experience
Prior onsite lead/architect role
