Astute's Power Team is partnering with a leading Waste Management company in the UK to recruit a DCS Engineer for their Engineering team at a large Energy from Waste plant. This is a vital role within the Power Station, where you will manage the Control System – the nerve centre of the plant. Your primary focus will be on overseeing continuous improvement programs aimed at enhancing reliability and availability while minimizing costs. As a DCS Engineer, you will report to the Engineering Manager and be responsible for the entire DCS system. Your duties will encompass the maintenance of the DCS system, fault finding, troubleshooting, and adding loops to the DCS. Additionally, you will assist the EC&I department by making adjustments to improve the unit and plant performance. You will be tasked with identifying and implementing modifications and improvements to the plant and overseeing the O&M budget management, forecasting, and reviews. Planning outages, inspections, and maintenance activities in collaboration with other Engineers will also be part of your role to ensure all work is performed safely and efficiently. To be considered for this position, you should possess an HNC/HND in a relevant Engineering discipline with a focus on Control Systems. While lower qualifications may be considered with appropriate experience, ideal candidates will also have IOSH or NEBOSH certification in Health & Safety and a completed recognized Engineering Apprenticeship. The DCS Engineer position is best suited for individuals with experience working on control systems such as Yokogawa Centrum, Exaquantum, Siemens Simatic Step, and WinCC. Exposure to budget management, contractor supervision, and project planning for outages and plant improvement is crucial. Previous experience in heavy engineering plants such as Energy from Waste, Biomass, Coal, CCGT, Nuclear/Power Generation, Petrochemical, or Oil & Gas will be beneficial.
