The Role
We’re looking for someone to find software company founders running the deeply embedded systems that run entire industries and get them talking to us. This is a sourcing focused role. You’ll cold call, show up at conferences, fly out to meet teams, and do whatever it takes to start the conversations that turn into acquisitions.
This is not a typical BDR seat. The people you’re calling are successful founders who have built their companies from scratch. Many have never taken a dollar or thought about meeting with an acquirer. The conversations are high-stakes and require real judgment - you need to understand what a founder cares about and earn the right to a second call.
You’ll work directly with Recur’s co-founders and deal team. You’ll sit in on deal meetings, learn how acquisitions work end to end, and have visibility across our entire portfolio. For the right person, this is a launching pad into software investing and M&A.
What You'll Do
• Cold call software company founders and decision-makers - hundreds of dials a month
• Travel to conferences, trade shows, and founder meetups to build relationships in person
• Get on planes at short notice to meet founders wherever they are
• Run creative outreach across phone, email, and LinkedIn to reach people who don’t respond to generic messages
• Build and maintain a pipeline of founder relationships in our CRM
• Qualify opportunities and hand off warm conversations to the deal team
• Work with the founders to identify new verticals, geographies, and sourcing channels
What We're Looking For
• 1–3 years in a high-volume sales, SDR/BDR, or business development role. You’ve made thousands of cold calls and you’re good at it
• Fearless on the phone: you don’t take rejection personally and you know how to hold a conversation
• Natural and confident: able to build rapport with anyone from a bootstrapped founder to a seasoned CEO
• Hungry, competitive, and self-motivated - you set your own pace and it’s fast
• Willing to travel frequently and on short notice
• Organized enough to manage a high volume of conversations without letting anything slip
• Genuinely curious about software businesses and what makes founders tick
• Software industry experience preferred but not required
