Overview
This role involves providing dental assistance in long-term care facilities, helping practitioners deliver essential dental care. Key responsibilities include managing clinical records, maintaining medical equipment, and ensuring a positive patient experience.

Responsibilities
• Assist the dentist with patient care promptly and courteously.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and medical histories using electronic medical records.
• Ensure the integrity of all documentation.
• Update patient odontograms with each visit.
• Efficiently provide instruments and supplies to the dentist during procedures.
• Keep the treatment area organized and fully equipped.
• Collaborate with branch offices to optimize the dental schedule and reporting.
• Manage patient flow during facility visits, including assisting with wheelchair handling.
• Generate daily production reports for the dentist.
• Post dental charges to the correct provider promptly.
• Maintain and clean all medical equipment.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and report them appropriately.
• Schedule and perform routine maintenance on dental equipment.
• Clean the service area after use.
• Inspect and maintain the vehicle used for transport, ensuring cleanliness and basic maintenance.
• Manage dental supplies inventory by auditing stock and placing orders as needed.
• Maximize resource usage to minimize waste.
• Conduct preventive maintenance on dental equipment following manufacturer instructions.
• Support the dentist in diagnosis by processing digital dental radiographs.
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices.
• Demonstrate exceptional multitasking and customer service skills.
• Possess strong knowledge of medical and dental terminology.
• Ensure a positive experience for all patients.
• Adhere to all OSHA and HIPAA regulations.
• Communicate effectively with patients, family members, and staff.
• Respond promptly to patient inquiries and document interactions in the EMR.
• Travel up to 100% of the time, willing to service in a 2.5-hour radius.
• Support compliance programs and report any suspected policy violations.
• Maintain confidentiality in all communications, following HIPAA guidelines.
• Adapt positively to changes and carry out other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
• High School diploma or GED.
• Experience as a Medical/Dental Assistant preferred.
• Reliable transportation, valid driving record, and car insurance required.
• Completion of a two-step Tuberculosis (TB) Skin Test.
• Hepatitis B vaccination preferred.
• State radiation license or certificate required.
• Strong computer skills and familiarity with medical terminology.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to follow directions and address the needs of patients and doctors.

Physical Demands
This position requires full body motion, including manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Frequent standing, walking, pushing, and stooping are necessary. Lifting may be required based on the specialty division (50 pounds or more for dental). Ability to push wheelchair patients is essential. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal ranges. The role may involve stressful conditions and irregular hours, with potential exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
