Responsibilities
Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring smooth workflow and optimal patient care. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and maintaining aseptic techniques to uphold infection control standards. Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced medical imaging equipment such as 3D scanners and X-ray machines, ensuring accuracy and patient safety. Manage patient records efficiently using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft, documenting medical histories, treatment plans, and procedural notes in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Support administrative tasks including scheduling appointments as a dental receptionist, verifying insurance information, and managing medical documentation with precision. Assist with vital signs measurement and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures to ensure a positive experience. Apply knowledge of dental terminology and anatomy to effectively communicate with patients and team members.
Skills
Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting and four-handed dentistry to maximize efficiency during procedures. Experience working with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft for seamless record-keeping and documentation. Strong understanding of infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures to maintain a safe clinical environment. Knowledge of medical terminology, medical coding, and medical records management to support accurate documentation and billing processes. Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices and the unique needs of pediatric patients to provide compassionate care tailored to children. Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners safely and accurately. Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with dentists, hygienists, patients, and administrative staff while maintaining professionalism at all times.
