This position serves as the administrative assistant (AA) for the Director of External Affairs & Tribal Relations of the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB), advising and assisting the director in all areas for which the they are responsible, including but not limited to managing meetings, program planning, policy and procedure development, meetings on behalf of the supervisor, analyzing data, and performing a full range of professional assignments to ensure the integrity of gaming and other areas of the supervisor's responsibility.

Work involves accumulating and analyzing operational information, drafting reports, and communicating information to and from the Director of External Affairs & Tribal Relations. Under direction of the Director of External Affairs & Tribal Relations this position reviews sensitive departmental and program issues and is routinely given special projects, which involves researching confidential and sensitive information for the Michigan Gaming Control Board (Board). Responsibilities include coordinating information exchanges with other gaming jurisdictions, consulting with and providing advice to, the Michigan legislature, tribes, Detroit casino executives and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities also include the development of policy materials, researching, analyzing, and compiling data and statistics (and disseminating the information into graphs, reports, and presentations), and preparing reports, presentations, and spreadsheets. This position uses independent judgment to carry out special projects assigned within the Board. The Michigan Gaming Control Board may consider alternative and remote work schedule requests based on the operational needs of the work area. MGCB's main office is located at 3062 West Grand Boulevard, Detroit, MI, however, MGCB has a satellite office in Lansing and offices located in Greektown Casino, MGM Grand - Detroit, and MotorCity Casino.

Not all MGCB positions have the capability to work remotely due to the nature of the position. For positions approved to work remotely, MGCB requires a minimum of two in-office days each week. Periodic onsite teamwork, collaboration, and communication with peers and leaders is required for all positions and is essential to the position's success and MGCB's mission and values.

Selected candidates approved to work remotely, or a hybrid schedule (combination of remote and in-office), must complete that work within Michigan. Remote work will be determined by management and is not an entitlement. Employees will be provided computers and other essential items necessary to perform state work.

Employees working remotely will be responsible for providing other components of a remote office at their own expense, including: A secure work location that allows privacy and prevents distractions. A high-speed internet connection of at least 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload. Suitable lighting, furniture, and utilities.

A reference check from a current or previous supervisor is required, please include this information on your application. Civil Service Rule 2-7 requires that all persons who are not currently state employees submit to and pass a pre-employment drug test which must be administered within 24 hours of a conditional offer or the offer may be rescinded.
