Job Summary
We are looking for a Design Director to lead our Mumbai-based in-house design team. You will manage and mentor a team of designers and project managers while working closely with the US-based Brand and Creative Team to create high-impact visual communications across a variety of formats in alignment with corporate brand standards. As a people manager, you will foster team growth and development. You will serve as a subject matter expert on design and branding, providing consultative guidance to stakeholders at all levels. By balancing creative ideation with timely delivery, you will help elevate our brand through thoughtful design solutions that effectively communicate to specific target audiences.
Responsibilities
• Team Leadership:
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of designers and project managers
• Provide regular feedback and conduct performance evaluations
• Foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, and continuous improvement
• Manage resource allocation and team workload
• Work with leadership to establish, track, and report KPI’s
• Design Leadership:
• Create presentations, proposals, reports, brochures and other materials for key internal stakeholders
• Provide expert guidance on design and branding decisions to client-facing colleagues
• Transform raw data into visually appealing information graphics that combine business context with effective design solutions
• Project Management:
• Manage iterative workflow across time zones for dynamic, fast-paced projects
• Balance multiple concurrent projects while meeting business priorities
• Build collaborative working relationships with all regional stakeholders
• Work with project managers on resource management and project assignments
• Brand Management:
• Support the management and administration of brand assets and templates
• Ensure adherence to corporate brand standards while maintaining creative excellence
• Make relevant brand recommendations to maintain consistency
• Design Innovation:
• Reimagine basic graphics into compelling information visualizations
• Conceptualize designs based on client needs and objectives
• Stay current with design trends and AI tools development
Qualifications
• Graduate degree or certification in Fine Arts/Applied Arts or Graphic Design
• 8-12 years hands-on experience in agency and/or corporate design teams
• Demonstrated experience managing and developing creative teams
• Proven ability to lead projects and people while meeting objectives and deadlines
• Portfolio demonstrating creative excellence in corporate communications required
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to articulate creative concepts and design rationale to a USA and European audience
• Strong foundation in typography, branding, and print production techniques
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, including InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat, Photoshop, Express, Firefly
• Demonstrated experience with print design across various print and digital collateral types
• Strong understanding of creative project life cycles; B2B marketing experience preferred
• Experience with design delivery planning and project management in a corporate environment
• Proficiency with project management tools; Box, Wrike and Adobe preferred
• Experience in consulting, health, insurance, and/or financial services industries preferred
• Expert knowledge of Microsoft 365 suite with focus on elevating presentation quality
• Experience with Digital Asset Management (DAM) system usage and administration support
• Understanding of AI-generated image usage and emerging AI tools
