Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop 2D drawings and 3D models of mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
Interpret customer requirements, technical specifications, and product standards.
Prepare BOMs (Bill of Materials), GA drawings, and part drawings for manufacturing.
Work closely with production, quality, and procurement teams to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability.
Modify existing designs based on customer feedback or production improvements.
Participate in new product development, prototyping, and design validation.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and engineering best practices.
Document design revisions, maintain drawing records, and support design approvals.
Assist in resolving shop floor issues related to design and provide technical support.
Contribute to cost reduction and design optimization initiatives.
Key Skills & Competencies:
Strong hands-on experience with SolidWorks and AutoCAD
Understanding of mechanical design principles, tolerances, and GD&T
Ability to create part, assembly, and detailed manufacturing drawings
Good knowledge of materials, fabrication methods, and machining processes
Experience in creating and maintaining BOMs and engineering documentation
Familiarity with PDM/PLM systems (optional but preferred)
Preferred:
Experience in sheet metal, fabrication, automotive components, or special-purpose machines (SPM)
Exposure to design validation and FEA (basic knowledge is a plus)
Knowledge of manufacturing standards like ISO, ASME, etc.
Experience working in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.)
Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills
