Andrew Cosbie is an interior designer based in Los Angeles, where he has worked in the design community for 15 years. Prior to starting his own design practice in 2016, Andrew worked for Commune Design and Studio Shamshiri. His studio designs private residences, restaurants, bars, boats, and hospitality projects. His most recent work includes commissions in Los Angeles, Montecito, New York, Hawaii, Mexico, and Italy.
Location: Los Angeles, CA [Venice] Type: Full-Time, W2 Reports to: Principal Interior Designer
Role Overview
Seeking a highly organized, detail-obsessed Design Assistant with great multi-tasking and problem-solving skills to join a growing studio in Venice Beach. You will be the backbone of our operations, ensuring that all projects run smoothly. This role is 50% administrative/logistics and 50% design support. This is a full-time, in-office position which may require travel to out of state projects.
Key Responsibilities
• Studio Admin: Manage the Principal’s calendar, coordinate travel, and handle light bookkeeping (expense tracking and invoicing).
• Procurement & Tracking: Generate Purchase Orders, track lead times, and coordinate with receivers.
• Vendor Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for status updates and managing vendor relationships.
• Showroom Sourcing & Fabric Pulls: Visit local showrooms to source materials, pull fabric memos, and collect finish samples based on the design team’s direction.
• The Library: Maintain and organize our physical sample library; coordinate with vendors to keep our resources current.
• Installation Support: Assist the Principal on-site during installs.
Requirements & Qualifications
• Experience: 1–3 years in an administrative or assistant role (Interior Design or Luxury Fashion experience preferred).
• Los Angeles Operations: Must have a valid CA driver’s license and a reliable vehicle for errands (trips to the PDC, tile showrooms, or job sites).
• Software: Proficiency in Google Workspace (especially Google Sheets). Experience with In-Design and Photoshop is a major plus.
• Traits: A "no task is too small" attitude. You should be the type of person who finds deep satisfaction in a perfectly organized spreadsheet and a tidy studio.
• Education: Degree in Interior Design or Business is preferred but not required if you have relevant industry experience.
Compensation & Benefits
• Salary: $58,000 – $66,000 (commensurate with experience).
