Job Description
Somaiya Vidyavihar University is seeking a dynamic professional to support the University’s efforts in institutional development, fundraising, and donor engagement. The role involves building relationships with corporate partners, alumni, philanthropists, and foundations to mobilise resources for academic initiatives, scholarships, research, and infrastructure development.
The position requires a proactive individual who can identify funding opportunities, develop partnerships, organise donor engagement initiatives, and strengthen long-term relationships with supporters of the University.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising Resource Mobilisation
Identify and pursue opportunities for philanthropic donations, CSR funding, and institutional grants.
Develop a pipeline of potential donors including corporates, alumni, foundations, and philanthropists.
Corporate CSR Engagement
Build relationships with corporate CSR teams and foundations to support university projects.
Prepare and present CSR proposals aligned with the University’s academic and social initiatives.
Alumni Donor Engagement
Work closely with Alumni Relations and International Relations teams to identify potential donors.
Strengthen engagement with alumni to encourage philanthropic support and participation in university initiatives.
Stakeholder Relationship Management
Interact with senior external stakeholders, philanthropists, and corporate leaders to build partnerships.
Maintain strong, long-term relationships with donors through regular engagement and communication.
Fundraising Events Campaigns
Conceptualise and support fundraising campaigns and donor engagement events.
Leverage existing university events to enhance donor outreach and participation.
Donor Stewardship Reporting
Prepare periodic donor reports and impact updates for Management and stakeholders.
Ensure transparency and accountability in the utilisation of funds.
Internal Coordination
Work closely with University leadership and academic departments to understand funding needs and develop proposals aligned with institutional priorities.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) (KPIs will be helpful in further understanding the role and also evaluating the performance of the candidate in future)
Funds mobilised through donations, CSR partnerships, and grants
Number of new donor and CSR partnerships developed
Strength and growth of donor pipeline
Quality and success rate of proposals submitted
Donor engagement and retention levels
Successful organisation of fundraising initiatives and events
Qualifications Experience
Postgraduate degree in any discipline
5–10 years of relevant experience in fundraising, CSR partnerships, alumni engagement, institutional development, or stakeholder relations
Experience in higher education institutions, NGOs, foundations, or corporate CSR teams will be preferred
Key Competencies
Excellent communication, networking, and influencing skills
Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management ability
Ability to identify opportunities and convert them into partnerships
Strong follow-up discipline and organisational skills
Innovative and proactive approach to fundraising and donor engagement
