• This is an exciting opportunity to perform a key engineering role across our Financial Health & Support (FH&S), and Account Close (AC) business domains that form part of Retail Banking Digitech
• You’ll transform technology outcomes through Agile DevSecOps ways of working, develop our engineering capability and maturity, and build modern, data-driven, integrated banking platforms
• You’ll be joining one of the largest operational footprints within Natwest, reaching a range of products and business areas including Current Accounts, Loans, Mortgages, Credit Cards, Mobile, Telephony, and Web Chat
• This role is available at associate level
What you'll do
As a DevOps Engineer, you’ll design, develop, and deploy applications using industry best practices, delivering testable functionality to meet business and architectural requirements using automated tooling within incremental cycles. You’ll be working within a feature team and using your extensive experience and solid engineering skills to deliver integrated software, scripts, and tools that are often complex and have multiple interdependencies across off host and on-premises platforms. You’ll also drive best practices across the domain, supporting the scrum and delivering within feature teams.
As well as this, you’ll be responsible for:
• Producing production-quality testable software in a microservices architecture that utilises standard software patterns and meets both user story requirements and architectural objectives
• Communicating, consulting, and developing in a team setting responsible for the full lifecycle, from estimation, feasibility, initial design, development, and production support through to future enhancement and maintenance
• Collaborating across the bank to build and leverage reusable components, facilitating technical discussions to share insights and guiding the direction of work
• Designing, producing, testing, and implementing working code in shared and version-controlled repositories
• Enabling automated testing at all levels of the test pyramid including unit, integration, and end-to-end tests before implementation
• Escalating and articulating risks and blockers in a timely manner to appropriate parties
The skills you'll need
We’ll looking for someone with proficiency in Java Front End, Back End, and Full Stack programming languages for Middleware, applications, interfaces, services, and platforms, and you’ll have experience developing and implementing deployment patterns, application tooling and legacy, and industry-leading technologies. You’ll have the knowledge, skills, and practical experience to support and guide your teams to engineer innovative, value-adding solutions.
You'll also demonstrate:
• Proficiency in client-side development including web services, Core Java, React, JavaScript, and CSS3
• Proficiency in server-side development using Spring MVC, JSP, Java Beans, JPA, Server-side Enterprise Java, J2EE Servlets, Hibernate, Spring Boot, Postgres, Oracle RDBMS, Microsoft SQL, and NOSQL databases
• Advanced knowledge of CI/CD tool sets, collaboration tools like Jira and SharePoint, and testing automation like Selenium and debugging tools
• Working knowledge of Workflows, XML, HTML, XSLT, and XPath to perform code reviews
• Good analytical skills and the ability to communication with technical and non-technical colleagues
• The ability to estimate effort and complexity of backlog items
