Knowledge and ability to use computerized vehicle maintenance software and diagnostic tools
Must possess basic set hand tools
The right candidate will be mechanically skilled, customer service oriented, take initiative and ownership of the two shop locations, ability to learn ambulance systems, and provide good communications skills

The Mechanic is responsible for general and emergency maintenance and repair of all emergency and non-emergency units
Perform vehicle repairs and maintenance as emergency failures occur
Perform vehicle maintenance and repairs from the preventative maintenance schedule
Record all repairs and maintenance on provided logs
Respond to road calls to vehicles that suffer unexpected failures
Inspect vehicles for all elements of safe operations: wear on tires, belts, fluid levels, etc
Diagnose common problems with vehicles and take corrective action independently and report trends to the fleet manager so that updates to the Company's preventative maintenance program may occur
Other duties as assigned

Monday through Friday Day Shift
Pacific West Ambulance is looking for a motivated and experienced auto/diesel mechanic experienced in Ford, GM, Chevy, and Ram Diesel engines and chassis that wants to have the feeling of running their own shop to join our service department located in Newport and Lincoln City.
Pacific West Ambulance is part of the largest privately owned provider of EMS in Oregon. We have a large fleet of emergency, non-emergency, and transit vehicles. Our fleet consists of 10 diesel ambulances, 3 wheelchair vans, 1 diesel sedans and 1 all-electric vehicle. This individual would be employed to run the shop as if they owned it.

Summary
The Mechanic is responsible for the application of the preventative maintenance program. The Mechanic is responsible for general and emergency maintenance and repair of all emergency and non-emergency units.

• Perform vehicle maintenance and repairs from the preventative maintenance schedule.

Minimum Requirements
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Valid Oregon driver’s license and insurability
• Ability to pass criminal background check
• Pass work site drug screening including negative for THC (due to federal contracts)
• 5 years’ experience in the diesel automotive field
• Current ASE certifications (minimum 5 with + or Master ASE preferred)
• Certifications for A/C machine
• Knowledge and ability to use computerized vehicle maintenance software and diagnostic tools.
• Must possess basic set hand tools
