Diesel Mechanic

Cars Towing and Transport is in the business of long-haul automotive transportation. We guarantee timely, damage free shipping of cars or trucks! We are based in Merrillville, Indiana and we operate our own fleet of trucks across the continental United States.
With our 10 years in the transport business, knowing the needs of our customer, and refining our transportation routes and products, Cars Towing and Transport has made moving any vehicle easy. Our teams of dedicated drivers work diligently to provide the best service to all our customers.
Cars Towing and Transportation is looking for an experienced Mechanic to work in our Merrillville, Indiana location
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
Thoroughly examine the vehicle damages
Running diagnostic tests on diesel engines and interpreting the results to offer suitable solutions
Inspecting vehicle systems, including suspensions, steering and exhausts
Maintaining record of parts inventory and serviced vehicles
Analyzing diagnostic test results
Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
Enhances maintenance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
Corrects vehicle deficiencies
Requirements:
Advanced knowledge of a vehicle, its electrical system, and the mechanisms of a diesel engine
Basic knowledge of computer systems and other relevant electronics
Comfortable using mechanical and electrical power tools
Welding experience necessary
Heavy Truck diesel and fabrication experience necessary
Attention to detail
Teamwork/Interpersonal skills
Communication skills
Excellent problem-solving skills
A valid driver's license
Must be able to past a drug test
