About the position
The Diesel Mechanic/Technician - Level A position at Waste Pro involves advanced knowledge and skills in diagnosing and repairing various components and systems related to heavy-duty and light-duty trucks. This includes working with gasoline, diesel, and CNG systems, as well as performing welding and fabrication tasks as needed. The technician will report directly to the Maintenance Supervisor and will be responsible for diagnostics related to a fleet of refuse and recycling vehicles. The role requires maintenance and repair of all aspects of vehicles and equipment from manufacturers such as Mack, IHC, Autocar, Heil, and McNeilus. The technician will also support coworkers in maintaining a safe and efficient work environment while ensuring compliance with safety policies and procedures. In addition to technical skills, the position requires the completion of all necessary paperwork in a timely and concise manner, maintaining a clean and safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards, and utilizing vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes for repairs. The technician will conduct safety checks on vehicles and equipment, follow Factory Service Manuals for repairs, and uphold high standards of ethics and dependability. The role also includes responsibilities for ongoing training and staying updated on current technology relevant to the job.
Responsibilities
• Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, brake, suspension, electrical, hydraulic, and body components of heavy-duty and light-duty trucks.

• Perform maintenance and repair on a fleet of refuse and recycling vehicles.

Requirements
• Ability to provide Drive Train Inspections, Diagnosis and Repair.
,
• Ability to provide General Engine Inspection, Diagnosis and Repair.
,
• Ability to provide Transmission Inspection, Diagnosis and Repair.
,
• Ability to perform Outside Repair Inspection Review.
,
• Ability to assess structural damage and assign needed repairs.
,
• Ability to provide assistance, guidance, and direction to all shop technicians.
,
• CDL Class B preferred or the ability to obtain a CDL license.
,
• Ability to obtain 7 ASE Certifications or equivalent within 36 months.

• 3-5 years of hands-on technical experience in the maintenance and repair of medium-duty class 8 vehicles and equipment, preferably in the waste/recycling industry.

• Clear understanding of OSHA safety requirements for vehicle fleets.

• Ability to utilize computers for data tracking and communication.
