Job Summary:
Under general supervision, the Diesel Truck Mechanic executes preventive maintenance services and thoroughly inspects, diagnoses, and repairs vehicles and equipment.
Mandatory Tasks and Responsibilities:
The effective completion of this task requires the satisfactory execution of each critical function. Minor tasks may also be designated.
• The ability to work without constant supervision is essential when tasks are assigned with established procedures and written guidelines.
• Undertakes repair work and designated measures for avoiding breakdowns.
• The staff conducts evaluations, analyses, and restorations of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air mechanisms on vehicles and machinery.
• Makes use of the complex computer systems integrated into modern vehicles to interpret failure modes and determine suitable courses of action.
• Accurately predicting the monetary and material costs associated with repairing vehicles and ordering fresh components is a critical responsibility for anyone working in this field.
• Follows the Standard Repair Time (SRT) protocols to ensure timely task completion.
• Prompt service is provided for unforeseeable technical glitches.
• Ensuring that a vehicle is safe for use by conducting safety checks has become imperative.
• Fleet maintenance software is the necessary tool to accurately complete paperwork required to document vehicle repairs, account for repair times, and track parts usage.
• Helps senior Mechanics with project responsibilities.
• When it comes to vehicle maintenance, ensuring repairs identified on the Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports are promptly attended to is imperative. The reports are reviewed for any necessary repairs that are then assigned or completed as required.
• Maintains a safe and clean workspace by following established safety procedures in compliance with Corporate and OSHA Standards.
