About the Role


The Digital Content Manager will develop quarterly content plans aimed at building an engaged community across Instagram and Facebook, using authentic, educational content that humanizes the brand. You'll create compelling visuals and written posts, provide creative direction for social media videos produced by external teams, and develop concepts and content for targeted email communications. This role blends creative storytelling, design, strategic planning, and genuine audience interaction to educate and grow a digital community


This is a remote, freelance position and will be compensated on a monthly basis in Canadian Dollars.


The Digital Content Manager is is responsible for:

Develop quarterly content plans focused on growing an engaged social media community, relying on existing research & content pillars provided to you.
Create compelling visuals and written content for Instagram and Facebook posts, including captions and hashtags (2x a week).
Provide clear creative direction and detailed concepts for monthly social video content produced by external teams (~10 per month). When combined, Meta accounts should average ~4 posts per week.
Schedule, publish and monitor all social media content (static & video) using management tools (e.g., Sprout Social).
Develop monthly email content concepts, including copywriting and header graphic design (4x per month).
Align content plans with existing resources, audience behaviors, industry trends and relevant seasonal themes.
Monitor overall social media performance and content engagement, and proactively flag opportunities or issues to the team responsible for managing account interactions.
Ensure all content is authentic, educational and designed to humanize the brand.
Collaborate closely with the project manager to align on ongoing campaigns, communicate and deliver monthly updates and gather necessary resources to execute concepts.
Maintain organized records of content plans, assets, and performance analytics for quarterly reporting and review.
About You


Important Considerations:

This role could be filled by a collaborative team or multiple individuals, combining content strategy & design expertise as a service.
Must-have qualifications:

3+ years of experience creating and managing social media content, specifically for Instagram and Facebook.
Proficiency in graphic design tools such as Canva, Figma or Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator).
Experience writing clear, engaging, and authentic copy for social media and basic email communications.
Familiarity with social media management platforms (e.g., Sprout Social, Buffer, Later) for scheduling, posting, and reporting.
Basic understanding of email marketing concepts, including copywriting and layout considerations.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, comfortable working cross-functionally and with external teams.
Proven ability to develop content strategies that effectively educate and build community engagement.
Understanding of social media best practices, analytics, and trends, with the ability to adapt quickly.
Ability to interact authentically and professionally online, responding to community comments and messages thoughtfully.
Able to meet during CST (+-5 CT) business hours once a month, with weekly email or Slack communication.
Must be located in Canada – Preference given to Alberta and Manitoba
